Reapers of Blood - Types of Vampyres

Types of Vampyres

There are many, many subtypes of Vampyres. Far more than can be listed. Some are so rare it is unknown if they even exist anywhere except in the scrolls and ancient recordings of our kind anymore. There are main types under which the subtypes exist. These main types are Sanguinarian, Psychic (or Psi/Psy), and Astral (Dream walkers).

Sanguinarian Vampyres sustain themselves by drinking human blood through blood letting processes. (*See how to safely feed) Sanguinarian Vampyres can with time and practice learn to feed in the same manner as Psy Vampyres.

Psychic or Psi Vampyres feed on psychic or pranic energy. However they start out much like Sangs do, feeding on blood, until they can successfully master psy-feeding well enough to sustain themselves on it soley. They usually draw it from individuals, large groups of people, etc. This leaves the donor(s) {depending on how much energy is taken} feeling listless, tired and perhaps even depressed.

Astral (or Dream walkers) Vampyres feed off emotions experienced during dreams, the dreams themselves, the physical energy of the individuals who's dreams they enter and from the astral plane itself. They enter dreams unbeknownst to the dreamer and feed. In this way the individual is rarely a donor, as they are unaware they are donating. Only when they are in the astral realm are they considered Vampyres since they deal soley and exclusively with the astral realm. Because of this they are considered a lesser Vampyre.

Now for the most common subtypes of Vampyres, which are Elemental, Emotional, and Incubi/Succubi Vampyres.
Elemental Vampyres feed directly from the elements (earth, fire, etc). If a Vampyre was to successfully practice Wicca without any repercussions because of the 'harm ye none' law, they would have to focus their feeding soley to this subtype and nought else. One would have to be very careful though when feeding on the element of earth to draw directly from the earth and not the plant life, lest you harm the plant life. Most Vampyres consider this subtype a lesser Vampyre because the essence of a Vampyre is to feed on the life of others.

Emotional Vampyres feed on the energy generated by emotions rather than the physical energy of a person.

Succubi and Incubi Vampyres are part Vampyre, part demon that use sex or any means of seduction to manipulate their donor into giving them blood or energy. Both Sangs and Psys can be Succubi/Incubi. Because they use manipulation their donors really aren't. Donating implys giving something willingly. Manipulation removes the donor's choice in their actions. Incubi/Succubi Vampyres do not regard sex as anything more than a tool for them to use. They are outcasts from the Vampyre Community because most Vampyres have morals. While sex outside of a committed relationship isn't considered a big breach of morals for most Vampyres, it or rather adultery for some clans is viewed as a breach in loyality. The Community does not understand why the Incubi/Succubi Vampyres would go through so much work for blood when there are so many humans that would willingly donate it to them. For the Psys that fall into this subtype they feed by taking the enegry produced by the act of sex after they lure their "donor" to bed. For the Incubi and Succubi Vampyres the thrill is in the hunt of finding someone who is strong willed, taking them down and using them to get what they want.

Vampyres do not have to only be in one of the categories but can be a combination of the above-mentioned types.

Vampyre Ranks: Royals, Purebloods, and Turns.
The Royals are the top of the power structure, the ruling class; having bloodlines that can be most directly traced to that of the original Vampyres* (see "And thus it begun...") They are the most powerful Vampyres in the hierarchy. The lesser Vampyres must show them the respect due their position. (*See Vampyre Etiquette for details.)

Purebloods are the next rung down in the structure. They at one time or another had someone in their bloodline turned by a Royal. Purebloods are also produced if two Pureblood Vampyres have a childe, or if a Royal and a mortal have a child. Pures are generally mistrusted by Royals because they tend to seek ways to gain power like the Royals possess. Now don't get me wrong, not all Pures are this way. A lot of them respect the Royals and are content with the power they have. Pures may be lesser in power than the Royals, but they out number the Royals by a massive amount. They are befriended by Royals if the intentions of the Pure are just. Pures control most of the surviving clans but still must show loyalty and give respect to the Royals. For no matter how many there are a single Royal could wipe them all out.

Turns are the bottom, the lowest rung of the power structure. Turns have no previous history of Vampyrism. They were turned by another Vampyre. They normally possess the attributes of the Vampyre that turned them. These attributes are lesser in power, obviously. Turns show loyalty only to the Vampyres who turned them and to the clan they belong to. Turns are looked upon as expendable and are the soldiers in clan wars. Pures and Royals alike show no loyalty to their Turns but instead show compassion. The Turns may be viewed as expendable but their loss is always felt with in the clan structure.
