What Vampyres Aren't
Real Vampyres don't go on talk shows. Real Vampyres don't allow
themselves to be interviewed about the fact that they are a
Vampyre. Real Vampyres don't have Covens or Circles. Real
Vampyres aren't like the Vampyres portrayed by Hollywood. We are
not what the myths portray us to be. We don't sleep in coffins,
we are far from undead, we cannot fly, and we don't drain a
subject's body of all its blood. We are not rotting, reanimated
corpses possessed by demons. We are not evil. We aren't allergic
to silver or garlic and we can enter churches with out a problem.
We don't fear crosses, or the words of the Bible and cannot be
killed with things made from the wood of an Aspen tree. (Aspen
was the wood used to made Christ's cross.) We are not all rich,
powerful and ravishingly beautiful. We are not immortal, we do
not turn to ashes when exposed to sunlight. We cannot survive on
blood alone, but require food as well. Some of us don't need
blood at all, but pranic energy instead. We don't all have huge
fangs. We aren't all pale white (though we are usually paler
than other people due to our aversion for sun light.) We are not
monsters. We can be killed if you cut off our heads or if you
put a stake through our hearts. (Well DUH. EVERYONE can die if
you do those things to them.) We do not drink animal or dead
blood. We do not feed from anyone who is not mentally sound or
below legal age. We do not prey on the helpless. We do not
snatch sleeping children from their beds. Psi Vampyres don't all
have to touch their donor(s) to feed. Sanguinarian Vampyres do
not feed by biting. Not all Vampyres come from Transylvania. We
are not ruled by our dark side. We are not Satan Worshippers. We
do not hypnotize our donors to feed. We do not need to sleep in
or on our native soil. We do not always wear dark clothes or
cloaks. We are not all goths. We
don't do this to be popular. We don't all fit into one social
class or label. We aren't all into things like cathedrals, the
dark ages, ancient Egypt or cemeteries. We are not all pagans,
we are not witches. We are not all into magic. We are not all
social creatures, we are not all loners either. Some of us are
leaders, others are followers. We are not a rag-tag group of
misfits, we have structure, rules, rank and order. We don't all
believe the same Vampyre ideologies.
What we are is diverse. We are predators. We are not easily classifiable except that
